Mr. Hexner founded Pacific Leadership Group (PLG) in 2001, creating a unique CEO-level forum based on principles and elements crafted from his years as a member of YPO. PLG is a unique, evergreen group of current and former CEOs committed to collaboration, mutual career development, and personal support.
Mike was Founder, CEO and Chairman of Wheel Works, an auto service business with nine locations in the Washington D.C. suburbs from 1976 until Nov. 1979. After he sold that company, he opened the first location of Wheel Works, West, February 1980 eventually a 47 location retail tire chain in the San Francisco Bay Area. He sold that company on Dec. 31st, 1999 when it was ranked the 15th largest and #1 in productivity in the U.S. Michael Hexner then became President, COO, and of Morgan Tire Company, the 5th largest independent in the U.S. He left Morgan in 2002, when it was ranked the largest in the U.S., with over 6,000 employees, and locations in 25 states
Michael is a graduate of Williams College. He served during college as an Administrative Assistant in the Nixon White House during the last 9 months of his administration. Mr. Hexner was a member of TEC for 15 years, and was a member of YPO from 1997 until 2003. He has worked in as a strategic consultant to the boards or CEO’s for numerous organizations from retail to manufacturing to software to associations. The latest have been Allen Technologies, headquartered in Austin, Texas, IBAHN, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Northern California Golf Association, in Monterey, CA. and The Olympic Club, in San Francisco. CA. He has been a guest lecturer on an annual basis at both the Haas School of Business and University of Santa Clara for over 10 years. Michael established and served as Chairman of the Children's Charity Golf Tournament for 13 years, was on the board of Saint Vincent DePaul Society and the San Francisco Day School. He was a member and then Chairman of the Tire Dealer Advisory Council from 1996 to 1998 and board member for Morgan Tire, a Bridgestone Firestone Company. Michael is also Co-Founder and member of the Pacific Leadership Group. Presently he is also on the board of KRh Thermal, the Secretary/Treasure of Northern California Golf Association, former President of the NCGA Foundation, a member of WPO and XPO, and an Operating Partner for Fundamental Capital. He is also CEO of SmartPillars, an internet web site tools provider for small business.
