Mr. Walker has spent the last 25 years working as an entrepreneur and/or venture capitalist, specializing in start-up situations.
Mr. Walker is currently an investor and Board member of SRAM, one of the world's leading premium bicycle components manufacturers.
From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Walker served as the (interim) CEO of Cadant, Inc., a telecommunications company that was sold to Arris (NASDAQ: ARRS) in 2002. Cadant was a venture-backed enterprise (Venrock Associates, JPMorgan Partners) that successfully developed the cable industry's leading CMTS platform (a.k.a. the "C4").
Prior to this, Mr. Walker founded and operated two institutional venture capital funds for Hambrecht & Quist, the then leading West Coast Technology Investment Bank (1997-2001). Earlier, Mr. Walker was with Allstate Insurance Company, where he was a Director within its Venture Capital unit (1988-1992), and later, as the founder and Director of Allstate's independent energy investment operation (1992-1997). In the years leading up to his entry into the venture capital industry, Mr. Walker was a founder of three consumer oriented start-up enterprises (Oilex, Bear's Cookies, and Aureal).
Mr. Walker is a graduate of Brown University (Mathematical Economics) and Northwestern Law School, and is a member of the California Bar Association.
